The news will come as a huge boost to public morale, as it paves the way for outside family get-togethers at Easter. On Sunday, Covid cases continued to fall steeply, with the number of new infections reported to be 9,834. This represents a 10 percent drop in a week and is the lowest daily figure since the start of October 2020.
Boris Johnson is set to reveal his “road map” out of lockdown on Monday, in a statement to Parliament at 3.30pm.
According to the Telegraph, the Government plans to rescind its stay at home guidance, as well as its recommendation for people to stay local by March 29.
At the same time, different households will be able to mix and meet outdoors.
There will be a return to the “rule of six”, allowing six people from up to six different households to meet outside.
Alternatively, two households will be allowed to meet outside, even if together they are more than six people.
The Prime Minister said: “Our priority has always been getting children back into school which we know is crucial for their education as well as their mental and physical wellbeing, and we will also be prioritising ways for people to reunite with loved ones safely.”

The lifting of lockdown will come in four stages, roughly corresponding to a four month period between March to June.
April should see the reopening of non-essential shops and outdoor serving for pubs and restaurants.
The hospitality sector could be serving food and drinks indoors by May, with hairdressers also given the all clear to resume business.
Staycations are expected to be given the green light by June, as life starts to return to normal.
