Captain Tom Moore dead: NHS nurses in heartbreaking tribute – ‘Priviledge to care for him’ | UK | News (Reports)

Earlier this afternoon it was announced Captain Tom had died, just days after being admitted to hospital with COVID-19. The 100-year-old war hero was being treated for pneumonia before he contracted the deadly disease and was transferred to hospital on Sunday. His family announced the news just moments ago, and hundreds of tributes have begun to pour in, including from the nurses who cared for him. 

In a statement shared on Twitter, Liz Lees, chief nurse at Bedfordshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust said: “It has been our immense privilege to care for Captain Sir Tom Moore.

“We share our deepest condolences and sympathies with his family and loved ones at this incredibly sad time.

“We’d also like to say thank you, and pay tribute to Captain Sir Tom Moore for the remarkable contribution he has made to the NHS.”
