Prince Charles took part in a virtual annual review of the spending of Clarence House and dropped a major hint he was not happy with Meghan and Harry’s move across the Atlantic. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex quit their senior royal roles at the end of March and are currently living the Santa Barbara in Los Angeles.

The couple did, however, feature in annual spending review video to showcase key engagements during the past 12 months.

The royal accounts run from April 2019 to the end of March 2020.

The footage accompanying the review examined key engagements attended by Charles commemorating global conflicts.

The clip then cut to a number of special family moments, such as images of Archie’s christening, the official family group portrait and a black and white shot of the Prince of Wales standing next to Harry as he holds his son.

An accompanying voiceover on the video stressed these were “happier moments” and emphasied the importance of “the family coming together”.

The voiceover said: “In happier moments, the year also saw different members of the family coming together to mark key dates in the calendar and to welcome new additions to the family as the Prince became a grandfather for the fourth time.”

Since quitting the Royal Family in March, Meghan and harry have lived outside of the UK.

The Clarence House annual spending review reveals Prince Charles spent £5.6 million on the Duke and Duchess of Sussex and the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge in the past 12 months.

The account shows a bill of £5.607 million in 2019-2020, up 11 percent or £556,000 from £5.051 million in 2018-2019.

Charles paid for the public duties of Harry and Meghan and some of their private costs before they decided to leave the Firm.

The heir-to-the-throne still pays for Prince William and Kate out of his £22.2 million Duchy of Cornwall income.

The report does not provide a breakdown of how the multi-million pound bill was spent by either the Sussexes or Cambridges.

The agreement with the US streaming giant is reportedly worth £75m.

The Duke of Sussex has since confirmed he has paid back £2.4m of taxpayers money used to refurbish Frogmore Cottage.

A spokesman for Prince Harry said: “A contribution has been made to the sovereign grant by the Duke of Sussex.

“This contribution as originally offered by Prince Harry has fully covered the necessary renovation costs of Frogmore Cottage, a property of Her Majesty the Queen, and will remain the UK residence of the duke and his family.”
