Officers were joined at the scene by ambulance and fire crews as well as forensics specialists. Essex police have yet to release any details about the incident but roads in the area have been blocked since before 9am. The A1060 Parkway near Rainsford Lane has been closed and the area has been taped off.
A police cordon has been erected on A1016 just past the turning for Wheatfield Way where police are dealing with the incident.
The road is completely blocked by two fire engines, several police cars and forensic vans.
Bystanders said the situation appeared very serious.
Local residents told Essex Live emergency services began to arrive at the scene at around 8am.
