Temperatures reached 37C were reported in London, making it the third hottest days of the year so far on Friday.
The coastguard dealt with more than 300 incidents that day, which was its busiest day in more than four years.
On Friday, the RNLI tweeted: “Our amazing lifeguards in Kent recently rescued 24 people in a single day at Ramsgate beach.
“With record-breaking temperatures forecast for this weekend, please think of our lifeguards by maintaining social distance, following their advice and not taking risks at the coast.”
