Public Health England confirmed 7,108 new cases of coronavirus across the UK on Wednesday, September 30.
This is the second day the number of new cases in the UK surpassed 7,000 in total, with Tuesday being the highest number of new daily cases since the outbreak began.
The PM spoke to these rising figures and addressed lockdown measures at the coronavirus conference on Wednesday.
Speaking from the House of Commons on Tuesday, Mr Johnson said he “misspoke” when asked to clarify details about new coronavirus restrictions across north-east England.
