Charnwood Borough Council, in Leicestershire, is handing over part of its building, which is currently an office, to the Ministry of Defence by mid-December for at least nine months.
The council’s leader Jonathan Morgan said it will act as a vaccination site for “around 185,000 people in the area”.
He told Sky News: “We feel very excited to be at the forefront of this, and as soon as a vaccine is ready, this site will be ready to go.”
It comes as hopes are growing for the rollout of a coronavirus jab before Christmas.
