The reason for this is because transporting them in an improper way could compromise the vaccine and make it ineffective when injected.
Sir Stevens said “as even more vaccines become available” at the beginning of 2021, the NHS would be able to begin opening more vaccination centres outside of hospitals.
The immunisation is also expected to become available in pharmacies in the future.
This part of the programme is expected to be the last and will coincide with the vaccine been offered to younger and healthier groups of people.
