Britain is likely to receive up to four million doses of the Pfizer vaccine by the end of December.
The UK Government has ordered 40 million doses of the vaccine, most of which is expected in early 2021.
Officials have outlined a plan for distributing the vaccine to the most vulnerable, starting with those aged over-80, workers in care homes and NHS staff.
Nine priority groups, equating to a quarter of the British population will then be vaccinated.
The second phase of vaccination focusing on those under-50, will not begin until well into 2021.
