Police were called to the west of the county yesterday morning following reports of livestock theft.
PC Jim Clark, of the Cheshire Police Rural Crime Team, said: “Clearly this number of sheep isn’t just an accident or a few wandering off.
“The local area has been checked by the owners and considering the fact that the fields were relatively sheep escape-proof this points to a deliberate act.
“We will continue to proactively stop vehicles carrying livestock and we would ask the public to report any suspicious activities around your farms or livestock.
“Especially livestock wagons or trailers that appear unfamiliar.”
Anyone with any information surrounding this theft is urged to contact Cheshire police on 101 referencing incident number – IML 912645.
