Sophie, Countess of Wessex, has long been rumoured to be among Queen Elizabeth II’s favourite members of the family. The Countess of Wessex often carries out engagements on behalf of the royal family, focusing much of her work on empowering disadvantaged women around the world. And now, it seems as though the Queen isn’t the only fan of Sophie in the family.
One source revealed just how glad the Duchess of Cambridge is to have someone to share the workload with.
One source told New Idea: “Kate is truly grateful to Sophie for stepping up.
“She is a calm yet glamorous pair of hands to help Kate out with attending public engagements.”
And the Countess’s transition to becoming a more active member of the Royal Family couldn’t have come at a better time for the Duchess.

The source added: “Kate was feeling a bit overwhelmed at the task of being the female face of the younger generation and Sophie has breezed right in.”
But, despite her apparent workload increase, the Countess has been putting in work behind the scenes for years.
It’s only in the wake of Meghan and Harry’s shock exit that she has been forced to up the ante.
The Countess of Wessex even helped show her support for the Duchess by taking part in her Hold Still photography project.
Ms Bowie said: “Sophie, Countess of Wessex was the only royal relative that we know of to have submitted a photo to Kate’s project, but her picture didn’t get chosen.”
Co-host Ms Fiortio went on to say: “Ouch!”, but Ms Bowie revealed royal photographer Chris Jackson also entered the competition but was surprisingly overlooked.
Ms Fiortia explained while it would have been nice for the Countess’s work to be acknowledged, it may have felt a bit too staged and nepotistic.
Sophie, Countess of Wessex is viewed by the Queen as the Royal Family’s safest pair of hands.
A senior royal aide said: “She is trusted and relied on by the Queen in a way I couldn’t say applied to the Duchess of Cambridge or the Duchess of Cornwall.
“She is like another daughter to Her Majesty, they are that close.
“The Queen is also mindful that Sophie’s marriage has survived where her other children’s relationships have failed – and she know that is in no small way down to Sophie’s dedicates – and she is aware, as Edward’s mother, what a tricky creature he can be.
“And not only has Sophie flourished as a dedicated, albeit still relatively junior member of the Royal Family, she has brought up two teenagers who are well balanced, sporty, amusing and delightful.”
