During the Royally Obsessed podcast, Rachel Bowie and Roberta Fiorito discussed their 10 key moments for the Royal Family in 2020. Ms Fiorito singled out the Duchess of Cambridge’s Hold Still project that shone a spotlight on how the British public was navigating the coronavirus crisis.

The royal commentator said: “What I recognise in Kate is her ability to really see these projects and campaign through.

“She has done such an exceptional job.

“We heard about Hold Still and the project with the National Portrait Gallery to do this virtual campaign that shone a spotlight on how everyone was navigating Covid.

“She never let us forget that it was happening.

“I thought that whole experience in her wheelhouse was a really smart idea.

“Also, it was one for the history books, I loved everything about Hold Still.”

The final 100 images for the Hold Still project were selected by the National Portrait Gallery and the Duchess of Cambridge, who is their patron.

The photography project, created across the backdrop of the coronavirus lockdown, was focused on three core themes – Helpers and Heroes, Your New Normal, and Acts of Kindness.

The project is freely available to view on the National Portrait Gallery’s website.

The museum said: “Featured here in this special digital exhibition, the final 100 present a unique and highly personal record of this extraordinary period in our history.

“From virtual birthday parties, handmade rainbows and community clapping to brave NHS staff, resilient keyworkers and people dealing with illness, isolation and loss.

“The images convey humour and grief, creativity and kindness, tragedy and hope – expressing and exploring both our shared and individual experiences.”
