The Duchess of Cambridge’s birthday approaches with just days to go, and with the royals being strict followers of Boris Johnson’s Government advice, the pair will not be going out to celebrate with any special plans Prince William may have for his wife. The Duchess is due to turn 39 this Saturday, January 9.

It is not known what she has planned with the occasion, though Kate has been spending the Christmas period with her family including husband Prince William.

The two royals, plus their three children, are thought to still be at their Norfolk home of Anmer Hall.

It comes amid ongoing Covid-19 restrictions which prohibit family gatherings and urge Britons not to travel unnecessarily.

However, Hello! magazine reports the occasion is still “set to be a special week” for William and Kate.

Last year, Kate marked the occasion publicly with a photo to her followers on social media via the KensingtonRoyal Instagram page.

In it, Kate is seen casually sitting on a fence and smiling. Analysts said the photo appeared to have been taken in 2018 at Anmer Hall.

Similarly, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge also released a new photo of Prince William when he turned 38 in June.

The photo shows the Duke sitting on a swing with his children in a picture apparently taken earlier that month by Kate,

The Duke and Duchess said they were “very pleased” to share the photo via their Instagram account.

It is unclear whether the Duchess will issue another photo to celebrate her birthday in 2021.

The Duchess’ birthday this year comes shortly after Christmas, in which the pandemic again forced royals to have a quieter holiday season than normal.

Kate still found time to trade gifts however. According to reports, Kate and Prince William exchanged presents with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.

The presents marked the end of a year in which the relationship between royal brothers William and Harry was reportedly strained by the latter’s decision to move to the US and step down from senior royal roles.

Despite this, the two royal families sent one another gifts across the Atlantic during the festive season, according to People magazine.

Last month marked the first time Harry and Meghan spent Christmas in their new US home with son Archie.

The family currently live in the Californian region of Santa Barbara.

Back in the UK, the Queen had to call off the Royal Family’s usual plans to spent Christmas together at the Sandringham estate.

A royal source told People the royal were “content to have a quiet festive season this year”.
