The Duchess of Cambridge received an unexpected birthday present from Meghan Markle and Prince Harry when she turned 39 last weekend, it has been claimed. The Duchess is thought to have had a quiet celebration with her family and husband Prince William at their home in Norfolk.
National lockdown restrictions in place due to the coronavirus pandemic limited how big the celebrations could be.
However, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle still took the time to send over some birthday gifts to the Duchess despite the great physical distance between them.
Speaking to US magazine, a ‘source’ did not provide any details as to what the gifts were.
Over Christmas, the two couples are said to have connected via video and phone calls and even sent gifts to one another.
Royal expert Kate Nicholl told Entertainment Tonight: “It was an opportunity in an otherwise very busy and chaotic year for both of the families to come together and connect, albeit virtually.”
She added the two brothers’ relationship is now “much better than it was” and that the two “speak relatively regularly”.
However, she added the two brothers were on “different paths” in life.
Indeed, Prince Harry is currently embarking on a life outside of the Royal Family with wife Meghan as the two secure production deals with big names such as Netflix and Spotify.
William and Kate, meanwhile, remain full-time senior royals and have carried out engagements in the UK throughout the pandemic.
One of the most high-profile royal birthdays approaching this year is that of Prince Philip, who will turn 100 in June.
Analysts are speculating Prince Harry and Meghan Markle could travel back to the UK for the occasion.
They are said to be aiming to come back to the UK for the Queen’s official birthday, which takes place just a couple of days later.
