Sky News’ Kay Burley questioned why the Labour Party was not more popular than the Conservative Party right now. While speaking to the Shadow Education Minister Toby Perkins, Ms Burley argued the Tory Party has had to deal with a multitude of issues while Labour hasn’t. Ms Burley said: “You are 26 points up which means that Labour is now neck and neck with the Conservatives.
“Given that the Conservative Party has had to deal with Brexit, coronavirus and lots of other issues, like the implications because of coronavirus, why aren’t you ahead of them?”
Mr Perkins argued the Labour Party is still trying to recover and rebuild its reputation among Britons.
He said: “I think the recovery we have made over the course of few months since Keir Starmer has been leader has been remarkable.
“I think there was a lot of damage done to the Labour Party brand in the previous four years.

“That takes some time to shake off.
“I think we have got a really strong Shadow Cabinet coming together working under Keir Starmer.
“The people are starting to see it and develop confidence in us.
“I think the confidence in the Government is shrinking.
Ms Burley argued that the Labour MP was essentially taking a dig at previous leader Jeremy Corbyn in his reply.
The Sky News host then quoted another poll that claimed Jeremy Corbyn was the best Prime Minister the UK never had.
Mr Perkins dismissed this claim and stated the British public had an opportunity to vote Jeremy Corbyn in at the last election and decided not to.
