Highways England tweeted one lane on the M25 anti-clockwise between Junction 6 at Gladstone to Junction 5 at Sevenoakes had been shut.
Drivers have been urged to “approach with caution”.
Patrol, the breakdown assistance, recovery and mobile mechanics based in Sussex, Kent and Surrey, issued a warning to drivers in the freezing conditions.
The service tweeted: “Motorways can be dangerous at the best of times.
“When it’s snowing or icy it is so important to keep your eyes on whats happening not just in front of you, but 10 cars ahead.
“Road planning and concentration are key.”
