The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have recently set up plans for their non-profit organisation Archewell. A source close to the couple said they had “no plans” to use social media for any of their platforms, including Achewell Foundation, Archewell audio and Archewell production.
However, accounts on the music platform SoundCloud – which are thought to belong to Meghan and Harry – remain live.
On its website SoundCloud is described as the “world’s largest music and audio platform”, launched in 2008 it says it has “unique content and features, including the ability to share music and connect directly with artists”.
On the music sharing site, an account under the username Bogart&Guy remains open – which is also the names of Meghan’s two pet dogs.
Another account with the username SpikeyMau5 – is believed to belong to Harry.
The secret pseudonym is thought to be derived from two words closely linked to the Duke of Sussex.
Harry had been known by Scotland Yard under the code name “spikey”, meanwhile “Mau5” is thought to be inspired by one of his favourite electronic music producers; DJ Deadmau5.
The Duke also used the term SpikeyMau5 in a past account on the photo sharing site Instagram.
The accounts usernames Bogart&Guy and SpikeyMau5 both follow each other on SoundCloud – more notably the SpikeyMau5 account also follows Prince Harry’s ex-girlfriend Chelsy Davy.
The owner of the SpikeyMau5 account last logged onto the platform over a year ago and its profile has a picture of an army base – Prince Harry served a decade in the Armed Forces including two tours of Afghanistan.
Meanwhile, the Bogart&Guy account last posted something on the platform over four years ago and features a generic background picture with the words California – the US state Meghan was born and now lives with Harry.
Meghan and Harry quit their senior roles within the Royal Family last March and were forced to change their presence online.
The couple amassed more than 10 million followers on their Sussex Royal Instagram account – which they were forced to abandon following a backlash over the use of the term “royal”.
“Now, eight months of that I wasn’t even visible – I was on maternity leave or with a baby.”
She added: “If people are saying things about you that aren’t true, what that does to your mental and emotional health is so damaging… That’s so big, you can’t even think of what that feels like.”
In an opinion piece for US publication Fast Company last August, Harry added: “The digital landscape is unwell.”
