Meghan and Harry made a mistake by letting their friends and close circle to collaborate with royal authors Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand, according to royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams. He told Express.co.uk: “They made a serious error in allowing their inner circle of friends to collaborate with Finding Freedom.”
Neither Meghan and Harry or Mr Scobie and Ms Durand said whether sources had been allowed by the Sussexes to speak to the authors.
But Mr Fitzwilliams believes friends close to the couple who know personal details of their relationship with the rest of the Royal Family had to seek consent from the Sussexes before speaking to royal reporters.
The authors of this unauthorised biography said to have spoken with dozens of sources close to the Sussexes as well as palace aides.
Some of those close to Harry and Meghan spilled intimate details regarding the relationship between the Cambridges and the Sussexes.
This, according to Mr Fitzwilliams, won’t help Prince William and Prince Harry bridge the distance which developed between them.
He continued: “This book didn’t burn any bridges.
“But Meghan and Harry were clearly associated with an embarrassingly revelatory gossipy tract which was sensationally serialised and will not help their relationships with the Cambridges.”
Meghan and Harry distanced themselves from the biography days before it was released.

In a statement, their spokesman said: “The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were not interviewed and did not contribute to Finding Freedom.
“This book is based on the authors’ own experiences as members of the royal press corps and their own independent reporting.”
Similarly, Mr Scobie and Ms Durand said they didn’t speak directly to Meghan and Harry on topics reported in the book.
In their book, the authors claimed Kate didn’t make any meaningful attempt to get closer to Meghan.

According to a Kensington Palace aide Duchesses Meghan and Kate are “very different people”.
The authors further claimed Meghan had taken it badly that their relationship hadn’t grown when she married Harry in 2018.
The authors wrote: “Their relationship hadn’t progressed much since she was Harry’s girlfriend.
“Although Meghan might have understood Kate’s wariness to strike up a meaningful friendship at that point, she was now a fellow senior working member of the Royal Family and the wife of William’s brother — and still they were no closer.
“Flowers for her birthday were nice, but Meghan would far rather have had Kate check in on her during the most difficult times with the press.”
It was later reported Kate was upset by the claims in the book with a friend of the Cambridges claiming she was “devastated”.
The book also depicts Prince William as a snob with insiders claiming he advised his younger brother to slow down his whirlwind relationship with Meghan, whom he had called during an intimate conversation with Harry “this girl”.
The authors wrote: “In those last two words, ‘this girl,’ Harry heard the tone of snobbishness that was anathema to his approach to the world.
“During his ten-year career in the military outside the royal bubble, he learned not to make snap judgments about people by their accent, education, ethnicity, class, or profession.”
This episode sparked a feud between the two brothers, who grew apart over the following months, the book said.
Prince Harry himself acknowledged he and his brothers are now on different paths while being interviewed by Tom Bradby during the royal tour to Africa in 2019.
Discussing the current relationship between the brothers, Mr Scobie said they are on speaking terms, but need time to heal.
He told True Royalty TV: “I think the distance between the brothers grew wider and wider.
“That’s really going to take some time to heal.”
