Meghan Markle and Prince Harry included a short snippet of their son Archie wishing listeners a Happy New Year during their recent Spotify podcast. However, royal commentators Chris Ship and Lizzie Robinson have argued this could be viewed as a contradiction to what they have previously said. The royal expert pair agreed, while it was a lovely addition to the podcast, it was not necessary considering the Duke and Duchess have insisted they want to be a more private family.
Mr Ship said: “So Happy New Year from Archie, I couldn’t quite work out if he had an American accent or not.
“He has got a dad with a very British accent and a mum with a very American accent but he is obviously living in California so one expects the Queen’s great-grandchild will have quite an American accent by the end of it all.”
Ms Robinson agreed and claimed Archie’s addition to Meghan and Harry’s podcast was sweet, however, she noted one of her concerns.
She said: “I think there were questions raised.

“Harry and Meghan have talked a lot about Archie’s privacy and wanting to keep him out of the spotlight.
“But then he is included in the podcast which they definitely did not have to do since they had big names involved in that podcast.
“However sweet it was and lovely to hear him and have him included, did they need to do that?”
Mr Ship admitted these were questions raised by fans but defended this move by the Duke and Duchess.
“However, you make the point about the contradiction between some of the things they had previously said and what they are now doing with Archie.
“Of course, we could not see him, it was just his voice and it was even promoted on the podcast.
“They said there was a little surprise guest as well, so they wanted everyone to hear it.”
Ms Robinson again reiterated what a lovely surprise it was from the Duke and Duchess at the end of their podcast.
