Meghan Markle, 39, and Prince Harry, 36, have kept their royal titles despite stepping away from the Fold. As the couple carve out a new life for themselves in the USA they have become increasingly involved in political matters. Whether or not Meghan and Harry will maintain their HRH status in the future is down to Queen Elizabeth II.
The royal exit deal Meghan and Harry reached with the Queen agreed that while they would continue to be the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, they would not use their royal titles in conjunction with their work going forward.
The terms of the Megxit agreement were subject to a one-year trial period.
A statement explaining the Sussexes’s deal with the Queen is outlined on their Sussex Royal website.
The website states: “While there is precedent for other titled members of the Royal Family to seek employment outside of the institution, for The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, a 12-month review period has been put in place.”

He added: “Meghan also spoke out on ABC when the list of Time’s top 100 most influential people was being unveiled, urging people to vote and according to Time, she is likely to become the first member of the British royal family to vote herself.
“Harry and Meghan will face a review of their activities by the end of next March after the agreement which the Queen brokered at Sandringham.”
According to Mr Fitzwilliams Meghan may be preparing for a future career in politics.
If the Duchess does choose to enter the political sphere then it is highly unlikely she and Harry will be allowed to keep their royals styles.
Mr Fitzwilliams said: “In the long term, a future in politics may well beckon for Meghan, who has been an activist since she successfully objected to a sexist commercial at the age of 11.
“She is also articulate and has many important contacts.
“In future years, as she is an American citizen, she has many options including a political career which could lead anywhere.”
