Meghan Markle will be “very much hoping” to avoid her father Thomas giving evidence against her in trial, royal commentators have claimed. The Duchess of Sussex’s court case against Associated Newspapers is said to be at risk of “airing dirty laundry”. ITV Royal Rota podcast hosts Chris Ship and Lizzie Robinson discussed the former working royal’s legal action.
Mr Ship told listeners: “I suspect the Royal Family and Harry and Meghan are very much hoping that this doesn’t go to trial.
“Otherwise I think everything will be aired in open court.
“In terms of putting your dirty laundry out for everybody to see, that will certainly be the case if there were to be a trial.
“I suspect the Mail on Sunday’s publishers would even call Thomas Markle as a witness.”

He continued: “Then he would be giving evidence against his daughter.
“So that is probably something that everyone wishes to avoid at the moment.”
The Duchess has reportedly submitted a summary judgement application in order to prevent a trial.
She is essentially asking for a judgement to be given on the grounds that Associated Newspapers has no real prospect of successfully defending their case against her legal claim.
Ms Robinson told the ITV podcast: “If it goes to trial, it will be huge, won’t it?
“They said the trial, it goes ahead, would have been in October but was delayed.
“So this whole thing could actually come to a rapid conclusion.
“That, of course, depends on what the judge decides.
“It could also be shunted off until the autumn of 2021.”
