The claim was made by Ingrid Seward, editor of Majesty magazine. Ms Seward has been promoting her latest book, Prince Philip Revealed: A Man of his Century, about the Duke of Edinburgh.
Harry and Meghan met on a blind date in London’s Soho in July 2016.
Speaking about the Sussexes’ at her book launch Ms Seward commented: “God Almighty, Meghan has really moved at the speed of lightning.
“It was a whirlwind courtship, it was pretty quick.
“Harry is totally mesmerised by her; he would follow her to the ends of the earth, that’s my feeling. He’s obsessed.
“He’s being dragged around like a royal performing seal.
“And Meghan has got to hang on to Harry because he’s her entrée – what is she otherwise, but a starlet?”
Meghan and Harry’s relationship became public knowledge after four months on October 31 2016.
After over a year of courting they announced their engagement to the world on November 27, 2017.

She said: “A really glistening white wedding isn’t right for someone who’s already done it once as Meghan has.
“She’s a very LA girl – all that ‘Oh Harry…’ and all that hands-clasped business of Meghan’s.
“Harry lives up to the redhead image of a hothead totally, he always has – he’s very sensitive.”
Meghan and Harry recently moved to a new £11.2million home in Santa Barbara, California.
They luxury property comes complete with a swimming pool, tennis court and children’s cottage.
Since the move Meghan has continued to speak out on causes close to her heart.
On Friday her endorsement of Social Media Kindness Day, which takes place next Monday, was revealed on the campaign’s Twitter account.
Meghan commented: “For so many, social media plays a big part of their daily life.
“We have access to it at the end of our finger tips, so it ought to be a safter and kinder place for all.
“It saddens me that in today’s society Social Media Kindness Day is deemed necessary.
“But it absolutely is!”
