The Chef Patron of Core by Clare Smyth, who catered for Prince Harry and Meghan’s wedding, has praised the Duchess of Sussex over her love of the culinary world. She made the remarks during an interview for the BBC, as she was named the the first and only female chef to run a restaurant with three Michelin stars in the UK.

She said: “To be awarded three Michelin stars is like winning the World cup or an Olympic medal – its the pinnacle, it’s global recognition.

“Meghan is really into her food in particular and loves food and is very tuned into restaurants and what happens in our world.”

She also recalled the moment she was asked to craft the menu for the 2018 wedding.

Ms Smyth said: “They approached us to do it and it was so good to be part of the day, something we’ll all remember forever.”

Later that year, the former Restaurant Gordon Ramsay chef patron met the Duchess again during a visit to Hubb Kitchen.

Alongside other women volunteers, the pair prepared meals for the local community.

Meghan Markle has now launched her own charity, Archewell Foundation, alongside Prince Harry.

At the beginning of the year, the couple updated their website to showcase the three subcategories of the charitable organisation: the Archewell Foundation, Archewell Audio and Archewell Productions.

They have labelled the Archewell Foundation an “impact-driven non-profit” and described its main goal is to “uplift and unite communities ‒ local and global, online and offline ‒ one act of compassion at a time”.

They listed partnerships with other organisations such as the Centre for Compassion and Altruism Research and Education at Stanford Medicine, the Centre for Human Technology, the Loveland Foundation, the UCLA Centre for Critical Internet Inquiry and the World Central Kitchen.

In their initial statement, the Duke and the Duchess suggested they had plans for a “new charitable entity”, but later specified that it would not be a foundation.

The website read: “As shared in early January on this website, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex do not plan to start a ‘foundation’, but rather intend to develop a new way to effect change and complement the efforts made by so many excellent foundations globally.”

They added: “After carefully considering a number of foundation models, and having researched the incredible work of many well known and lesser known foundations, the Duke and Duchess are actively working to create something different – a charitable entity that will not only help complement these efforts, but also advance the solutions the world needs most.”
