Meghan and Prince Harry’s decision to leave the royal frontline has been portrayed in a new light after extracts from the sympathetic biography, ‘Finding Freedom’, were published over the last few weeks. Although the Sussexes deny contributing at all to the book, written by Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand, it contains many intimate details of their life together and explains what motivated the pair to leave the royal fold. The biography alleges that Harry had struggled being in William and Kate’s shadow, and that his brother had been “snobbish” towards Meghan from the very beginning by asking him to take his time getting to know “this girl”.
Meghan’s friendship with Kate had never got off the ground either, according to the bombshell new text, as the Duchess of Cambridge rarely reached out to the new royal.
However, when news first broke of Harry’s budding romance Camilla Tominey reported that his new girlfriend was settling in well with the royals.
Writing in the Express back in 2016, she remarked: “Meghan has made several visits to London and has been on discreet dinners with Harry and out with his friends.”
Friends also told the royal commentator Harry had enjoyed Meghan’s “excellent cooking” and that she had stayed with him at Kensington Palace, where Kate and William live with their children.

The insider then told Ms Tominey: “William and Kate really liked her and she fitted in straight away.
“Meghan is a very confident and intelligent woman and she’s not overawed mixing with royalty. That’s one of the things Harry admires about her.”
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, too, seemed to reinforce these claims during their engagement interview more than a year later.
The BBC’s Mishal Husain asked Harry: “What was it like introducing Meghan to your father and your brother?”

Kate rarely “reached out to Meghan” according to Finding Freedom
He said: “It was exciting, I mean I’ve — you know I’d been seeing her for a period of time when I — literally didn’t tell anyone at all.
“And then William was longing to meet her and so was Catherine.
“So, you know, being our neighbours, we managed to get that in a couple of — well quite a few times now and Catherine has been absolutely…”
Meghan commented: “She’s been wonderful.”
Harry continued: “… amazing, as has William as well, you know, fantastic support.”
The insider who gave Ms Tominey the details of Meghan and Harry’s romance also revealed key details from their first few weeks together, which have since been echoed in Finding Freedom.
They said: “He’s in a very relaxed period of his life and Meghan has come along at the right time.

The two couples appeared happy together in 2017
“They are taking each week as it comes and just enjoying each other’s company but it’s fair to say that they love seeing each other and there’s a definite chemistry between them.
“Harry has been desperate to keep the relationship quiet because he doesn’t want to scare Meghan off.
“He knows things will change when their romance is public knowledge but he also knows he can’t keep it a secret for long.”
These details seem to match up to the revelations made in Finding Freedom, which explained how the two hit it off instantly.
According to the book, a source said the pair were “in their own little world” during their first date.

Another friend said the royal was instantly “besotted” and added: “Almost immediately they were almost obsessed with each other.
“It was as if Harry was in a trance.”
The book claimed Meghan then called a friend after that first date and said: “Do I sound crazy when I say this could have legs?”
The primary detail which appears to separate the reports of their romance from 2016 and ‘Finding Freedom’ is the approach Kate and William took towards Meghan.
Kate and William’s allies have disputed the claims in the book, too, insisting the couple “rolled out the red carpet for Meghan”.
