Meghan Markle, 39, and Prince Harry, 35, stepped down as senior members of the Royal Family in March and moved to Los Angeles with Archie to become financially independent. The plan means the couple cannot use their HRH royal titles in a working capacity. When they had Archie, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex decided not to give him a royal title in the hope that it would keep him out of the spotlight but a royal commentator has explained how he could be forced to become a prince.

Speaking on Access Hollywood, Kit Hoover said: “Meghan Markle and Prince Harry may have walked away from the monarchy but their son could be forced to follow a long-standing royal rule if and when he decides to get married.

“Though the 2013 succession to the crown act removed the requirement for royals seventh-in-line to the throne and below to get marriage permission from the reigning monarch, Archie would still technically be subject to the law once Prince Charles becomes King because he would be bumped back up to sixth place even though Meghan and Harry opted not to give him a royal title at birth.”

But Archie could avoid this if his cousins have children before he does.

The revelation comes as royal expert Marlene Koenig warned their privacy is more at risk in LA than in Frogmore Cottage in Windsor.

She branded Harry’s decision to live in LA as “crazy” as she said the royal couple will become celebrities as opposed to royals.

Ms Koenig told Express.co.uk: “I think for Harry that is going to be difficult to swallow.

“They would have far more privacy living in Frogmore Cottage behind the fences at Windsor Great Park than they will ever have living in a gated community in LA.

Speaking in a new video from their multi-million pound home, located in the celebrity hotspot of Santa Barbara, the Duke of Sussex was asked whether he was enjoying life across the Atlantic.

A smiling Harry replied by saying: “Oh easy question. I am loving it. It’s fantastic.”

But Ms Koenig’s comments also come as royal experts claim Harry “gave up everything” for Meghan.

Speaking on the Channel 5 documentary, ‘Meghan & Harry: The New Revelations’, royal expert Emily Andrews explained how Harry had to “give up his country”.

Ms Andrews said: “Harry has had to give up everything.

“He’s giving up his family, his homes, his country everything he’s ever known and those military titles and Meghan’s right they meant so much to him.”
