The Duke and Duchess of Sussex made a huge decision earlier this year, as they announced their intention to step back as senior members of the Royal Family. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle first moved to Los Angeles and then relocated to Santa Barbara, slightly upstate on the coast of California. A spokesperson for the couple said: “They have settled into the quiet privacy of their community since their arrival.
“They hope that this will be respected for their neighbours, as well as for them as a family.”
The decision to step down came after months of speculation the Duchess could not settle into royal life. In a documentary filmed throughout her 10-day tour of Africa with Harry in October, Meghan herself admitted that the media scrutiny “on top of trying to be a new mum or trying to be a newlywed” was really challenging.
Meghan is therefore understandably thrilled to be back in her country and home state.
According to unearthed reports, though, moving back to the US was not what she had originally planned.
According to the Duchess of Sussex’s estranged best friend, Ninaki Priddy, Meghan wanted to become Princess Diana Diana 2.0.
Ms Priddy told the Mail Online in 2017: “I’m not shocked at all [by Meghan’s engagement to Harry].
“It’s like she has been planning this all her life.
“She gets exactly what she wants, and Harry has fallen for her play.

However, when they announced their engagement in 2017, Meghan said she did not know much about Prince Harry.
She told BBC interviewer Mishal Husain: “Because I’m from the States, you don’t grow up with the same understanding of the Royal Family.
“And so, while I now understand very clearly there is a global interest there, I didn’t know much about him, and so the only thing that I had asked [a friend] when she said she wanted to set us up was, I have one question: ‘Well, is he nice?’
“Because if he wasn’t kind, it just didn’t seem like it would make sense.”
