The Government is taking action to ensure an international women’s conference can go ahead in the chamber of the House of Commons, after it was blocked by Conservative MP Sir Christopher Chope. Sir Christopher, who sparked fury last month when he halted a bill to ban voyeurs from taking photographs up women’s skirts, faced cries of “shame” when he objected on Monday to plans for the Women MPs of the World Conference.
