A national lockdown would mean restrictions being implemented across the country once again.

The PM is reportedly considering introducing new national restrictions as he races to get a handle on the spread of the virus.

Coronavirus cases are now doubling every seven to eight days with analysis estimating the reproduction rate of the virus now stands at 1.7 which means the disease is spreading exponentially.

This rapid rate has compelled the Government to look at stricter measures to “short-circuit” the virus and slow the rampant spread of COVID-19.

Proposals are currently being devised for this “circuit break” which could see essential travel to schools and workplaces continuing, but restaurants and bars would shut.

It is also possible nationwide restricted hours may be introduced and different households could be asked not to mix.
