Every Boxing Day the royals take part in a pheasant shoot at Sandringham which could still go ahead without breaching government guidelines.
The royal source told the Daily Mail: “If they go to Sandringham, their traditional Boxing Day shoot could still take place, enabling them to see members of the family unable to join them on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.”
This means that while it may be just Sophie, Countess of Wessex, Edward and their two children – Lady Louise Windsor and James, Viscount Severn at Sandringham for Christmas Day, a larger gathering could happen for the shoot on Boxing Day.
Up to 30 people would still be allowed to gather for the shoot that would be classified as organised outdoor sports.
