Republic is an organisation that campaigns for the abolishment of the monarchy and for Queen Elizabeth II to be replaced by an elected, democratic head of state. The organisation’s CEO, Graham Smith, told Express.co.uk that Prince George has already been told what religion and the career path he must follow.

Mr Smith said: “Every child should be treated the same and this is the fundamental point.

“When we look at George for example he has been told what his religion and career are going to be.

“And the fact that he has to marry a woman and have children.

“So any personal decision he may have or thoughts about how he wants to live his life are really relegated.

“All royal children should be treated exactly like any other child.”

The CEO of Republic has previously stated that Kate and Prince William’s children should be left to lead their own lives in privacy without Royal Family status.

Mr Smith said: “William’s children can go off and do what they want to do, they are going to be well into their adulthood by the time their dad dies and George has the chance to be King.

“They should just be left to lead their own lives in privacy and enjoy themselves as private citizens.”

He said: “It makes absolutely no sense to claim that ‘all royal children should be treated exactly the same as any other child’.

“Republic does not like to acknowledge the enormous interest, nationally and internationally, in our Royal Family from the media around the world.

“It would be grossly irresponsible to ignore the security considerations involved too.”

He added: “The practical way of handling this is by an arrangement with the press that a child of a senior royal will have privacy from press intrusion and also the necessary security, as the interest in them is global.”
