The brothers have faced a “rocky path” but distance has been a “good thing” for them, royal expert Katie Nicholl claimed. She added while they are “getting along much better”, they are unlikely to spend a “cosy” Christmas together for “some time”.

Ms Nicholl said: “The brothers spoke on Harry’s birthday.

“It’s no secret that it’s been a rocky path between the two brothers, but I actually think the distance has been a good thing for them.

“They are speaking more than they did before.

“They are getting along much better than they were several months ago, so I think the signs are all very positive.”

“I think it will be some time before we see them having possibly a cozy Christmas together, but I think things are definitely better than they were,” she told Entertainment Tonight.

Harry is living in America with Meghan Markle and their one-year-old son Archie after the Duke and Duchess of Sussex quit royal duties earlier this year.

The brothers have faced ongoing rumours of a rift which were fuelled by bombshell royal book Finding Freedom.

The book by journalists Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand claimed alleged tensions between the Sussexes and the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were caused by William and Harry rather than Meghan and Kate.

The Sussexes wanted a dual role supporting the monarch while earning their own money.

But the proposal was deemed unworkable over fears they would be accused of cashing in on their royal status.

It was later announced that Meghan and Harry would walk away from being working members of the Royal Family.

They are now starting a new life of personal and financial freedom in the US.

The couple have bought an £11 million mansion in celebrity hotspot Santa Barbara.

Harry has paid back the £2.4 million of taxpayers’ money used to renovate the Sussexes’ UK home Frogmore Cottage.

He made the payment after he and Meghan signed a lucrative deal with Netflix to make shows for the streaming service.
