Prince Harry: Experts discuss ‘falling out’ with Prince William
Prince Harry and Prince William’s reported feud is believed to have profoundly changed the relationship between the once inseparable brothers. And Megxit – the decision by the Duke and Duchess of Sussex to relinquish their royal roles and establish their lives abroad – has created a physical distance between the siblings.
Royal author Robert Lacey hopes Prince Harry and Prince William will be able to reconcile in the near future.
However, he added, he does not believe their relationship will return to be the same as before their alleged feud.
Mr Lacey, author of Battle of Brothers, said: “I expect that is the long-term solution here: duty in the form of William and Kate will take over the situation, and Harry and his love will enjoy the freedom of America and, I hope, obviously there will be some sort of reconciliation.
“I think there will be [a reconciliation].

“There is texture and history between these brothers, but it’s never going to be the same.
“I would imagine the base for Harry and Meghan is going to remain in the United States for the foreseeable future.”
Mr Lacey believes the brothers gained two different lessons from the traumatic and public fallout of their parents’ marriage between the late 1980s and mid-1990s.
One, Prince William, found comfort in knowing his future role and, thanks to a close relationship with the Queen matured during his years at Eton, he grew up with a strong sense of duty and commitment to the Crown.

On the other hand, Prince Harry didn’t want to make the same mistake of his parents and be locked up in a difficult marriage and chose love.
Mr Lacey told Elle magazine: “There’s these two boys, William and Harry, who have taken different lessons from those years.
“The lesson that William took from the breakdown and the emotional chaos was at least he had this duty, this responsibility to be King, the future monarch, and he had to live up to that.

“This became a source of strength for him; for other kids, it could have been a source of conceit or arrogance, but on the whole, it gave him this driving sense of duty.”
Speaking about Prince Harry’s choice, Mr Lacey added: “He takes a different lesson: his parents were locked into an arranged, loveless marriage, and he’s not going to make that mistake.
“He’s going to go for love, and that’s what he’s done with Meghan, unapologetically.”
Rumours of a rift between the Cambridges and the Sussexes began in late 2018, when Meghan and Harry announced they were moving out of Nottingham Cottage, on the grounds of Kensington Palace, to relocate in Windsor.

While it was initially claimed there had been clashes between Meghan and Kate, royal watchers and insiders later said the rift was between the two Dukes.
The authors of Finding Freedom, a biography detailing the Sussexes’ blossoming romance, wrote the feud began when Prince William told his brother not to rush into marrying Meghan but, rather, to get to know her.
In his book, Mr Lacey traced back to Harry and William’s teenage years possible reasons for conflict.
However, he also acknowledged there may have been a clash about the speed at which Meghan and Harry’s love story was moving.

Meghan and Prince Harry stepped down as senior royals in late March last year and have since established their new post-royal lives in California.
Over the past few months, they have signed lucrative deals with Spotify and Netflix.
They are also working behind the scenes to the launch of Archewell, their new foundation.
The Cambridges and the Sussexes are believed to have been in touch in recent months, with sources claiming the brothers have spoken other the phone and that Meghan and Harry have sent to the UK their Christmas presents.
