Prince Harry is facing “quite some significant challenges” as he steps into unknown territory far from his homeland, royal expert Camilla Tominey said. At the moment, as he creates a new career and reshapes his life, the Duke is in the shadow of Meghan, the expert noted.
She told the Daily Telegraph: “I suppose there is this sense that now he is a father, he is approaching middle age, and he has changed as an individual, a great deal has happened over the past 12 months, how is he going to adapt to that period in his life?
“There has always been this sense of him being young and fun-loving and cheeky-chappish and now he is maturing into a new role.
“He is in his wife’s shadow in a way because he is out of his territory and in America.
“I think time will tell how he will adapt to his new life in the coming months, because he is coming at quite a difficult time in his life – and he is posed with quite some significant challenges.”
Discussing Meghan and Harry’s new-found freedom from the Royal Family as well as its financial support and its stringent rules, the expert also argued the Duke of Sussex could find himself in a difficult position in the future.
Thanks to the multi-million contract struck with Netflix, Harry and Meghan are now independent from the Sovereign Grant and any financial help provided by Prince Charles.
However, Ms Tominey added, while enjoying this freedom of pursuing ventures he had been barred from as a senior royal, Prince Harry may also be finding himself into a “problematic” situation.

The royal expert continued: “Even with talks of Meghan pursuing political ambitions, where is that going to leave Prince Harry?
“It’s interesting when you consider that he felt overshadowed by the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, he as an individual facing the prospect of being overshadowed by his American wife in America, separated from Britain.
“It could be problematic for him.

“So the Royal Family left the door open for them to come back if they feel they have made a mistake.
“I feel we can all agree that’s unlikely it’s going to happen.”
Meghan started discussing voting rights and urging US citizens to head to the ballot on November 3 during the summer.
The Duchess of Sussex first explained to Marie Claire magazine why she votes, saying: “I know what it’s like to have a voice, and also what it’s like to feel voiceless.
“I also know that so many men and women have put their lives on the line for us to be heard.
“And that opportunity, that fundamental right, is in our ability to exercise our right to vote and to make all of our voices heard.”
Meghan also appeared in two virtual summits to express similar views.
Speaking with the founder of The 19th*, a non-for-profit news organisation, Meghan spoke about Prince Harry and how he never voted in his life as a member of the Royal Family.
And, attending the When All Women Vote event, the Duchess told US citizens not to be “complicit” by not expressing their vote at the upcoming US election.
While the Duchess of Sussex have remained impartial and didn’t express a clear preference for a specific candidate running for presidency, a few commentators have claimed Meghan is eyeing a career in politics.
Celebrity agent Jonathan Shalit told the Sunday Telegraph: “She’s American-born, she has every right to run for president.
“Ronald Reagan was a B-list actor who ended up in the White House. Never say never.
“The perception of the couple in America is different to the UK.
“The UK has a love-hate relationship with the Sussexes, but it’s different in the States.
“I think Meghan is very ambitious, but in this country that is sometimes considered an unpleasant character trait.
“Yet she’s achieved a great deal already.”
