Archie Mountbatten-Windsor, who turned one-year-old this May, is currently living with his parents in California. A royal source claimed the Prince is hoping to give his son the childhood he’d ideally have wanted.

Speaking to PEOPLE about the Duke and Duchess they said: “They are both extremely attentive parents.

“Harry wants to give Archie the childhood he always wanted.

“They spend a ton of time outside, and both Harry and Meghan love to play—all the private space is a dream for them.”

Archie was born at London’s Portland Hospital on May 6 2019.

In a break from royal protocol the location of the birth wasn’t revealed until sometime after it had taken place.

Archie doesn’t have a title as his parents wanted to give him a relatively normal upbringing.

Harry and Meghan also chose not to make Archie’s godparents public.

Reflecting his parentage Archie holds both British and American citizenship.

“For you go every single day how can I make this better for him, how can I make this world better for Archie? And that is a shared belief between my husband and I.

“As a parent I can enjoy all the fun and silliness and games with my son, but I wouldn’t be able to feel proud of myself as a mom if I didn’t know that I wasn’t doing my part to make it a better place for him.”

Harry and Meghan caused a global sensation in January when they announced their intention to step down as working royals.

The couple said wanted to become “financially independent” and to split their time between North America and Britain.

Their final royal engagement, at the end of March, was the 2020 Commonwealth Day Service at Westminster Abbey.

After a brief stay in Canada Harry and Meghan moved to California shortly before the state went into coronavirus lockdown.

The couple recently purchased a new £11.2million home in Santa Barbara, to the north of Los Angeles.

Last month Netflix announced it had agreed a landmark deal with the Duke and Duchess.

They will produce documentaries, films and children’s shows for the streaming giant.

The arrangement is similar to one Netflix agreed with Barack and Michelle Obama back in 2018.
