The Duke of Edinburgh is said to be in “good spirits” after feeling unwell for a few days. He was admitted to King Edward VII Hospital as a precaution. It has been confirmed the 99-year-old royal does not have coronavirus after receiving the vaccine six weeks ago with Queen Elizabeth II
Philip was driven 26 miles to King Edward VII Hospital – and walked in unaided.
Royal sources said the Duke is feeling positive in hospital, and added his admission was out of “an abundance of caution”.
One said: “The Duke is in good spirits.
“The doctor made the decision with an abundance of caution to send him to hospital for rest and observation.”

Speaking to , another royal source said: “It is precautionary but you can’t take any chances when you are 99 years old.”
While the exact reason for Philips’ admission was not disclosed, Palace sources have stressed the Duke’s hospital stay was not an emergency.
In December 2019, Philip was also admitted to King Edward VII Hospital as a “precautionary measure” for a “pre-existing condition”.
He was later discharged after four days at hospital before being driven to Sandringham Estate.
Last year, former Buckingham Palace doctor Anna Hemming shared how Philip has stayed in good shape at 99 years old.
She said: “Prince Philip retired a few years ago and in doing so is able to live a more relaxed daily life.”
Citing his athletic background, she added: “Sport has its benefits in keeping both your body and mind active.
“When the time comes to retire from sport the interest in sporting activities helps to stimulate your mind.
“Keeping active both physically and mentally play a very important role in maintaining a healthy and ongoing quality of life.”
