The Duke of Cambridge was raised with no knowledge that he would one day become the head of the monarchy, according to online broadcaster The List. Prince William had aspirations of being a police officer but was told by Prince Harry that he would be unable to choose his career as he was destined to be King.
The List narrator Christine-Marie Liwag Dixon said: “Prince William was not raised with the knowledge that he would one day be the King of England.
“Royal biographer Andrew Morton wrote that before starting school William ‘had genuinely no idea that he was any different from anyone else’.
“Prince William’s schoolmates teased him about being the heir to the throne.
“It was reportedly his brother Harry that broke the news to him that he wouldn’t be able to decide his future career.

“According to Morton when William said once that he would like to be a policeman and look after his mother.
“Harry told him emphatically: ‘You can’t, you have to be King.’
“Years later, it came out that William struggled with the responsibilities placed on his shoulders.”
Royal author and historian Robert Lacey told the Royally Obsessed podcast the Duke of Cambridge felt he was “told his destiny too casually”.
The royal historian added that this had an impact on the relationship between Prince William and Prince Harry.
He claimed: “Once Harry was misbehaving in the back of a car and his nanny told him to shape up.
“Harry responded by saying he didn’t need to shape up because he would not be king.”
Mr Lacey continued: “By their teens, Harry is coming to resent this typecasting.
“The fact that Prince William is the king of the castle, while Harry is seen as a dirty rascal, that he gets the blame for everything.”
