The Duke of Cambridge told Homerton University Hospital staff about what he says to his three children in a video call. Posted to the Royal Family’s YouTube channel, Prince William also thanked the frontline workers for their efforts in fighting coronavirus despite “anxiety” and “exhaustion”.
Prince William said in the video call he and Kate, the Duchess of Cambridge make sure to tell their children about what NHS workers have to deal with.
He added at the end of the call: “If I may just say on behalf of everyone else if I may be that bold, but a huge thank you to all of you for all the hard work.
“The sleepless nights, the lack of sleep, the stress, the anxiety, the exhaustion and everything you are doing, we are so grateful.
“You’re all in my thoughts. Catherine and I and all the children talk about all of you guys every day, so we’re making sure the children understand all of the sacrifices that all of you are making.”

Prince William, joint patron for NHS Charities Together with Kate, has been outspoken about his praise for frontline workers during the coronavirus pandemic.
The Kensington Royal Twitter account announced the video with a caption stating “providing support for NHS staff at such a challenging time is essential”.
It added: “Funds from NHS Charities – of which The Duke and Duchess are Patrons – have paid for breakfast boxes sent to hospital staff, and a new break out room for A&E staff.”
NHS Charities Together also awarded more than £2.5 million in second wave funding for hospitals last month.
It comes after the UK recorded a further 68,053 cases and 1,325 deaths, the highest daily figure since figures began.
During the video call, Dr Carlo Prina, Consultant Physician and Clinical Lead for Acute Ambulatory Care, told Prince William the current wave of coronavirus is “worse than the first wave”.
She said: “We are currently using that at about 150 per cent of the level that we used at our peak in April.
“So we had a hard first wave with a rapid spike, and then a rapid come down and I guess what is daunting to everybody is not knowing what is going to happen next.”
The video call marks the latest time Prince William has hailed NHS staff for their work fighting coronavirus.
After the first coronavirus vaccine was approved in December, Prince William hailed the “good news”.
Speaking to occupational therapists at the Royal Berkshire Hospital as part of their UK train tour, he said: “You have all been doing good work.
“At least we have the good news today. Well done and thank you.”
