During the call Prince William said: “Well done, I’m so pleased for all of you, I really am.
“I saw it in everyone’s faces back in June how much time and effort was going into this, and I could see that there was a lot of pressure on everyone, so I’m so thrilled that you’ve cracked it – so really well done.”
According to a royal commentator, the breakthrough will have struck a personal note for the Prince who tested positive for the virus in April but kept it secret from the public.
Royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams told Express.co.uk: “The remarkable breakthrough by the University of Oxford in collaboration with AstraZeneca plc on the creation of a global COVID-19 vaccine is a reason for enormous celebration.”
