Prince Charles insisted on giving “thank you” to women before marrying Princess Diana in 1981. One of the gifts included a specially made bracelet for Camilla which had an engraved message on it. Royal biographer Penny Junor revealed to the Channel 5 documentary, Before They Were Royal, that Charles’ heartfelt gift to Camilla had the initials ‘GF’ on it.
Ms Junor said: “Shortly before his wedding, Charles wanted to thank a number of women who had been very kind to him over the years of his bachelorhood and Camilla was one of them.
“Diana found this bracelet that Charles had specially made for Camilla.
“It had the initials ‘GF’ on it and she immediately realised this was for Camilla.”
Narrator Glynis Barber said: “Diana was said to be aware of the nickname Charles had for Camilla.”

Royal commentator Wesley Kerr said: “When Prince Charles was growing up, a very, very popular show on the radio was The Goon Show.
“There were two characters on it called Gladys and Fred who were lovers.
“These were the nicknames that Charles and Camilla gave eachother.”
Royal expert Ingrid Seward added: “It really, really hurt Diana and she became obsessed with Camilla.”
“The charities that they support, the issue they’re most passionate about.
“In Camilla’s case it was very difficult for her because so many causes that we understand she actually did care about were associated with Diana.
“She had to be so careful not to tread on Diana’s image or Diana’s favourite subjects or charities.
“It would of course looked like she was trying to walk in Diana’s shoes.
“That was a very difficult line to tread.”
