The royal was promoting a collection of porcelain buttercups that have been launched to raise funds for the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital (RNOH). Princess Eugenie is a patron of the hospital which is the same one that conducted her operation.

The hand-finished buttercups were made as a collaboration with visual artist Clare Twomey.

Some 20,000 of the limited-edition items were produced and are now on sale.

Princess Eugenie commented: “I know from my own experience that being a child in hospital and having complex surgery can be very daunting.

“For almost 100 years, buttercups have offered hope at the RNOH, and I am so pleased to see this tradition continue in such a beautiful way.”

Buttercups have long been associated with the RNOH and were sold in London to raise money for the hospital during the 1930s.

The current porcelain buttercups are on sale for £45 per item.

Speaking about the project Ms Twomey said: “Being able to work with the RNOH Charity and Here Design has been a magical journey.

“My ambitions as an artist were to create a truly special moment for everyone who helps us support this cause, and together we’ve made these final artworks that are full of the Charity’s positive spirit.

Just three months earlier Meghan Markle and Prince Harry had wed at the same venue.

At her wedding Eugenie wore a low-back dress leaving her scoliosis scar visible in order to combat stigma around scars.

On June 27 Eugenie reposted a picture of her scar on Instagram to mark International Scoliosis Awareness Day.

She commented: “Today is International Scoliosis Awareness Day.

“I just wanted to share my scar and encourage anyone out there who’s gone through something similar to share theirs with me.

“Let’s be proud of our scars! I’d love to repost any of your images on my stories so please tag me and I will share.”

The post received over 125,000 likes from other Instagram users.

Princess Beatrice, Eugenie’s older sister, married property developer Edoardo Mozzi on July 17.

The wedding took place at the Royal Chapel of All Saints, Royal Lodge, Windsor.

It had been due to take place earlier in the year but was delayed due to the coronavirus outbreak.
