According to Brian Blessed, the Queen never misses the chance to watch the film every year. The actor claimed, his 1908s classic, Flash Gordon is Her Majesty’s favourite film and she even asked the actor to recount his famous saying during a meeting. He made the comments on the film’s 40th anniversary.

He said: “The Queen, it’s her favourite film, she watches it with her grandchildren every Christmas.”

During an interview with Yahoo Movies UK, he said the Queen is one of many people who has asked the famous actor to repeat his catchphrase.

He added: “Everywhere I go, they all want me to say ‘Gordon’s alive!’

“The butcher, the baker, the candlestick maker, horses and queens, and Prime Ministers, they all want me to say ‘Gordon’s alive!’, it’s their favourite film.”

The actor was awarded an OBE for his services to arts and charity in 2016 and was presented with the honour by the Queen.

Earlier this month, Her Majesty and Prince Philip travelled to Balmoral after spending months in isolation.

At the outset of the coronavirus outbreak, the Queen travelled to Windsor where she stayed with Philip.

The two are now expected to remain in Balmoral until October.

While there, the Queen will not attend church while forensic cleaning will be required at all times.

A royal aide said: “Clearly, Her Majesty wanted to go to Balmoral, as normal, for August and September, but it was the practicalities and Government advice, of both England and Scotland, that had to be considered.

“A small number of staff have travelled from Windsor to Balmoral, where effectively a new bubble has been created. Procedures are in place to mitigate any kind of risk.

“No one has to wear masks in the bubble, as they are deemed safe as one household.
