The Queen “shed tears of joy” upon hearing news that Prince Harry and Prince William were mending their tense relationship, according to a Windsor Castle insider. The insider, who spoke to Us Weekly, said that news of the brothers repairing their relationship prompted an emotional reaction from the Queen. This follows an alleged feud between Prince William and Prince Harry, which worsened in the months following Harry’s decision to step down as a senior royal.

The insider explained: “No-one is happier than the Queen.

“The Queen is said to have shed tears of joy that they’re no longer at odds.

“She found the ugliness extremely hard to handle, not only because these are her beloved grandchildren.

“But they’re also the heads of a modern generation that needs to be united and sending messages of positivity to royal waters.”

The source, who is close to the Queen, added: “The royals are an extremely tight knit bunch.

“It just broke her heart knowing two of the most pivotal figures were on such terrible terms.”

Speaking about the brothers, the insider continued: “William and Harry’s fallout was very real, very ugly and incredibly intense.

“But, they have reached a point where they both agree life is too short for pettiness and animosity.

“There was a lot of trash-talking on both sides and it’s fair to say each of them felt betrayed by the other as well as disrespected.”

During a trip to South Africa in 2019, Harry, 36, confirmed he and William, 38, were on “different paths” in life.

The feud escalated between the brothers when Harry and Meghan Markle stepped down from their senior royal duties in January 2020.

They have since relocated to California with their 19-month-son, Archie.

Earlier this week, a source close to Prince Harry told Us Weekly that the Duke of Sussex has “no regrets” over their departure from the UK.

The source added: “2020 was a huge game-changer for Harry and Meghan and it came with its ups and downs — the stress of announcing their departure from the royal family, moving three times, dealing with the pandemic, making huge business decisions, setting up Archewell, coming to terms with the miscarriage.

“It’s brought them closer together and made them a stronger couple.”

Harry and Meghan are expected to return to the UK later this year for events including Queen Elizabeth‘s 95th birthday in April, Prince Philip‘s 100th birthday in June, and the dedication of a Princess Diana statue, Harry and William’s late mother, in the summer.

Harry has also said he hoped to attend the Invictus Games, which are being held in the Netherlands in May.
