The Queen is set to give Prince Harry and Meghan Markle an ultimatum amid the ongoing controversy surrounding their royal titles. The Monarch, 94, could make the Duke and Duchess of Sussex decide between their royal titles and “mega-million deals” in a shock showdown. Harry and Meghan have already signed a lucrative deal with Spotify to host and produce podcasts, estimated to be worth around £30million.

The partnership comes a few months after the couple also signed a Netflix deal, to produce a range of programmes and series, rumoured to be worth more than £100 million.

Royal expert Russel Myers suggested that the Queen will “rein in” the couple during their Megxit negotiations this year.

The Queen is due to review the deal with Prince Harry, 36, later this year where they will discuss his future with the Royal Family as well as his titles.

On whether the couple can retain their royal titles alongside their lucrative deals, Mr Myers told 9Honey: “It is difficult to see.

“I think what the Queen and the senior members of the royal family will have difficulty with is how they are marketing themselves as royal.”

He continued: “That was a big sticking point when they wanted to take away that Sussex Royal branding and use it, and the Queen absolutely stamped that out.

“They are signing these mega, mega-deals with Netflix, Spotify, and coffee companies. These are big money deals.

“The Queen and the Royal Family will need to rein them in a little bit because they don’t want them muddying the brand.”

He later suggested that the Queen could “clip the wings” of Prince Harry as a way to allow him to return to royal events.

This comes amid claims that Prince Harry wants to renegotiate the Megxit arrangement with the Royal Family “to get a better deal”.

Mr Myers explained: “When they negotiated earlier in March they wanted one foot in, one foot out.

“They weren’t happy with how they were being treated but they also wanted to go and to make billions and billions of dollars.

“They want to create different platforms for themselves on Netflix and Spotify, and to create a whole new sphere of what it meant to be a royal.

“Harry is coming to come to the UK to try and renegotiate a better deal for him and Meghan.

“The royals will want to keep him close rather than keeping him outside of the Firm completely.”

He added: “Harry is a very popular member of the family however they do want to clip their wings a little bit.

“We have to remember that it was an absolute bombshell statement that they didn’t tell the Queen, they didn’t tell Charles or William – the senior royals.

“They completely blindsided them with their decision and I think tensions are still running pretty high with that, to be honest.”

On Thursday, Harry and Meghan launched their non-profit organisation, Archewell.

In the launch, Prince Harry described himself as his “mother’s son”, without mention of his own father, Prince Charles.

This prompted Piers Morgan to rip into the Sussex couple by demanding the Queen remove their titles, ahead of their 12-month royal review in March.

He tweeted: “I think they’re a pair of vapid little wastrels exploiting their royal titles for vast commercial gain whilst doing none of the duty that being a member of the Royal Family entails.

“It’s shameless, shameful & the Queen should stop them doing it by removing the titles.”
