The Queen has allegedly missed out on royal Christmas tradition twice before.

The first was one year into her reign in 1953, when she and the Duke of Edinburgh stopped in Auckland, New Zealand, as part of their landmark Commonwealth tour.

She also had to tone down celebrations in 2016 and forgo aspects of the Sandringham event.

Then, the monarch was recovering from a “heavy cold” and had to miss out on the annual church visit.
