Queen Elizabeth II, 94, and Prince Philip, 99, travelled to Balmoral Castle in Scotland in early August. The Aberdeenshire home is where the Queen takes her summer break every year and she traditionally welcomes visits from Royal Family members throughout her stay.

This year the Queen has already hosted her youngest son Prince Edward, 56, his wife Sophie, Countess of Wessex, 55, and their two children Lady Louise Windsor, 16, and James, Viscount Severn, 12.

Princess Eugenie, 30, and her husband Jack Brooksbank are also reported to have travelled to Scotland to spend some time with the Queen.

The Balmoral Estate is home to a handful of residences so there are plenty of places for the Queen’s family members to stay in the grounds without breaking social distancing measures.

While the Queen is likely to receive visits from her daughter Princess Anne, 70, her son Prince Charles and possibly Prince Andrew during her 12-week break, she is unlikely to see royal favourites Zara Tindall and Mike.

Earlier this month, Mike revealed he and Zara had planned to travel to Scotland to mark Princess Anne’s 70th birthday.

However, the celebrations were put on hold due to the pandemic.

Speaking on The One Show, Mike said: “We did have plans, it would have been up in Scotland, but with COVID everything has been scaled back a bit.

Asked about Princess Anne, Mike said: “She’s just an incredible woman in terms of how much work she can get through.”

He added: “We will be doing something but I am going to keep my lips sealed.”

Zara and Mike live near Princess Anne in Gloucestershire with their two young daughters – Mia, six, and Lena, two.

Mia is due to return to school next week as pupils across the country are asked back for the start of the autumn term.

Given that Mia will be starting a new school year, Zara and Mike are unlikely to make the journey to Balmoral this autumn.
