Anne, Princess Royal, born Anne Elizabeth Alice Louise, is the second child and only daughter of Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh. She is currently 14th in line to the throne and has held the title Princess Royal since 1987. Princess Anne is known for her extensive, high-profile charity work, which involves her patronage of more than 200 organisations, many of which aim to improve the lives of people in developing countries.
And now, her mother, the Queen has shared a touching and heartfelt post ahead of a special event for Anne.
Speaking to the Royal Family’s official Instagram account, the Queen announced she would be sharing photos from every decade of her daughter’s life in the run-up to her 70th birthday.
A post on the Royals’ Instagram story read: “The Princess Royal will turn 70 next week, on Saturday, August 15.
“Over the next seven days, we will be taking a look back at each decade of HRH’s life… starting with her birth in 1950!”

The caption on the image read: “The Princess was baptised at Buckingham Palace, in the presence of her close family.
A third photo shared of Anne by the Royals shows a young Princess Royal in the Girl Guides.
The image caption read: “When the Princess was nine-years-old, the first Buckingham Palace Company of Girl Guides was reformed.
“It was originally reformed in 1937, for her mother, [the then] Princess Elizabeth!”
The pictures also made sure to highlight Princess Anne’s love of horses, captioning one photo of a young Anne with one of her favourite horses.
“The Princess Royal is a renowned equestrian, and her love of horses started at a young age!”, the caption read.
The sweet and touching tribute to Princess Anne finishes with the Royal as a teenager, with the caption saying: “Head to our stories tomorrow, where we’ll be looking back on the Princess Royal’s teens!”
Princess Anne is, however, set to miss one royal tradition on her birthday next week.
The ringing of the bells at Westminster Abbey which signifies Royal birthdays will not go ahead as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.
