If the Queen chooses to spend the day with the Wessex family, she will also spend it with their two children, Lady Louise, 17, and James, Viscount Severn, 12.
A source told the Daily Mail it is expected that Edward will spend Christmas with his mother, saying: “Prince Edward and his family will be one of the two in her bubble.”
If not, she could spend it with Princess Anne and her family – which could include Zara Tindall and her family, or Peter Philip’s and his family.
Speculation has been rife that the Cambridge’s will be spending the day with the Middletons, having now done Christmas at Sandringham for several years in a row.
