Charles’ attendance at Gordonstoun was portrayed in the fictional royal drama, The Crown, which suggested Charles did not have a good experience at the school.
Reports suggest Prince Charles did experience bullying at Gordonstoun, and that he wrote a letter home in 1964 reading: “The people in my dormitory are foul. Goodness, they are horrid.
“I don’t know how anybody could be so foul.”
However in a speech launching The Princes Trust in 1974, Charles suggested reports of his negative experience of the school had been exaggerated, and he said his time at Gordonstoun taught him how to “accept challenges and take the initiative”.
