On Thursday the pair launched their non-profit organisation, Archewell. In doing so, harry described himself as his “mother’s son”, without mention of his own father. Although the organisation was started under the premise of attempting to “build a better world”, but failing to even mention Prince Charles has caused a backlash.

Commenting on the story from Express.co.uk, one person wrote: “Just wow! Talk about Compassion: The Prince’s Trust was founded in 1976 by The Prince of Wales to help vulnerable young people get their lives on track.

“It‘s the UK’s leading youth charity, having helped over 950,000 young people turn their lives around. How could he?”

A second person said: “Both have alienated their own families but still have the audacity to preach to the little people about ‘kindness’.”

A third said: “Certainly if the Queen’s press secretary announced that the Sussexes were being stripped of their titles this would help and that the Royal Family are happy for them to live abroad in a private capacity, this would calm the public perception of the Queen’s acceptance of their shameful behaviour which, if the comments about them are true, seems to be inflaming the situation, the Queen should act now and end this damaging episode for the good of the country and indeed the crown.”

On the Archewell site, the pair used two pictures of themselves as children – one of Harry at Highgrove and Meghan with her mother Doria Ragland.

As well as launching the foundation, the pair also revealed Archwell Audio and Production – names associated with their Netflix and Spotify deals.

In a statement called a “letter for 2021”, the pair said: “I am my mother’s son. And I am our son’s mother. Together we bring you Archewell. We believe in the best of humanity.

“Because we have seen the best of humanity. We have experienced compassion and kindness, from our mothers and strangers alike.

“In the face of fear, struggle and pain, it can be easy to lose sight of this.”
