Prince Harry and Prince William are understood to have drifted apart over the last few years, with the Duke of Sussex confirming this during a TV interview where he said the brothers were on “different paths”. Relations between the pair are believed to have soured following the Sussexes’ decision to quit the Royal Family, but a royal expert has offered a solution to the rift.
Royal biographer Robert Lacey said he believes Harry and William will reconcile later this year, but warned their relationship is “never going to be the same”.
The expert also offered up a solution to the Royal Family, to ensure the brothers remain on good terms.
He told Elle.com: “I expect that is the long-term solution here: Duty in the form of William and Kate will take over the situation, and Harry and his love will enjoy the freedom of America and, I hope, obviously there will be some sort of reconciliation.”
William and Harry are currently living on opposite sides of the world, after the Duke and Duchess of Sussex bought a $14million (£10.3million) mansion in Santa Barbara, California.
Despite the distance between them, and the coronavirus travel restrictions preventing face-to-face visits, the brothers stay in touch via video-conferencing.
A source told Fabulous Digital: “William finds Zoom a good, informal way of keeping in touch, and some would say ‘tabs’, on his younger brother.”
It is hoped the brothers will both attend the unveiling of Princess Diana’s statue at Kensington Palace this summer.
A statement on behalf of the Duke of Sussex and Duke of Cambridge issued by Kensington Palace in August read: “The statue that Prince William and Prince Harry have commissioned to commemorate their mother, Diana, Princess of Wales, will be installed next year on what would have been her 60th birthday.”

8.44am update: Kate’s special birthday plans to be scrambled by lockdown
Kate, Duchess of Cambridge, will be unable to have a big celebration for her birthday this month after England entered a third national lockdown last night.
The Duchess of Cambridge’s birthday approaches with just days to go, and with the royals being strict followers of Boris Johnson’s Government advice, the pair will not be going out to celebrate with any special plans Prince William may have for his wife.
The Duchess is due to turn 39 this Saturday, January 9.
It is not known what she has planned with the occasion, though Kate has been spending the Christmas period with her family including husband Prince William.
The two royals, plus their three children, are thought to still be at their Norfolk home of Anmer Hall.
8.03am update: Camilla ‘attempts to come back fighting’ after trolling with new official photo
Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, has promoted a brand new project to encourage literacy across the UK.
The project has been praised and with it a new picture of the Duchess of Cornwall has been published.
A body language expert analysed this new image, released after the Duchess and her husband faced a wave of trolling in the past year.
After season four of The Crown, which focused on the marriage of Prince Charles and Princess Diana, Camilla and Charles’ social media accounts were hit by abuse.
However, an expert claimed Camilla is holding her head high for her new campaign.
Body language expert Judi James told Express.co.uk: “In the face of criticism and trolling after The Crown re-ignited some of the anger over her role in the breakdown of Charles and Diana’s marriage, Camilla appears to have attempted to come back fighting here, pulling out all the stops in terms of trying to present a look of confidence and stoicism with this official photo to launch her new literary campaign.”
